In Manitoba we have welcomed a significant number of Ukrainian refugees. Many Ukrainian refugees have settled here due to the province's large Ukrainian-Canadian community, which has a long history dating back to the late 19th century. The Manitoba government has established a number of programs to support Ukrainian refugees as they settle in the province. This includes the Manitoba Nominee Program, which allows the province to nominate immigrants, including refugees, for permanent residence in Canada.
In addition to government support, Ukrainian refugees in Manitoba have also received assistance from private organizations and volunteers, who have helped to provide them with housing, food, and other basic necessities as they adjust to life in their new home.
We are very warmed to have been able to play a role helping families who have come to Canada with nothing because of the war, and we hope they feel welcome by our gift of love.
